2025 August 11th, Hangzhou, China – The fourth launch with 11 satellites for the Geely Future Mobility Constellation has been successfully completed. All 11 satellites have now entered their planned low-earth orbits and are functioning normally.
With the latest launch, the number of satellites in the Geely Future Mobility Constellation has increased to 41. Over the next two months, further launches aim to raise the number of satellites deployed to 64. The first phase of the Geely Future Mobility Constellation with 72 satellites deployed is planned to be completed by the end of 2025.
The Geely Future Mobility Constellation is independently built and operated by GeeSpace, a commercial aerospace company under Geely Holding Group. GeeSpace goal in establishing the constellation is to create a global commercial satellite IoT communications network primarily to support future smart vehicle functionality.
This latest launch on the Smart Dragon-3 rocket from a converted ship off the coast near Rizhao, Shandong Province, China was the first time Geely has launched its satellites from sea. Geely’s next two launches are also planned to take place at sea.
Low-orbit satellite communications have quickly become integral to intelligent connected vehicles, by leveraging the Geely Future Mobility Constellation, GeeSpace has established partnerships with telecom operators in over 20 countries across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
As a key component of Geely Holding’s integrated ground-space smart mobility ecosystem, GeeSpace will also leverage satellite IoT communications and high-precision positioning technologies to provide satellite data support for intelligent driving and intelligent connectivity functions, comprehensively enhancing vehicle safety and user experience. GeeSpace proprietary satellite communication chips and high-precision positioning modules have entered mass production and are utilized in thousands of consumer and commercial vehicles. These terminals provide users of Geely Holding’s brands vehicle from Geely Auto, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, and Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicles with a comprehensive smart mobility experience.
In addition, as the official partner of the Chengdu World Games, Geely Holding is leveraging its satellite data services to provide high-precision positioning and emergency satellite communication for official vehicles during the flagship event.
Focusing on intelligent electrification, Geely Holding has continuously advanced the development of its low-orbit satellite constellation, expanded infrastructure to support smart mobility, and accelerated the establishment of its “integrated ground-space” mobility ecosystem. In the era of smart mobility, Geely Holding aims to lead through its green and smart mobility technology ecosystem, the successful launch of its satellites represents another small step towards accomplishing that goal.
